Need a Good Book to Listen to in Your Mitsubishi This Winter Season? Here are Some of Our Favorites!
Best 5 Audiobooks to Listen to While Driving
Here in NYC, we spend a lot of time on the road due to the heavy traffic. We have grown used to it and actually make the most of it! We are always listening to our favorite songs and podcasts, but sometimes we want to listen to a good book. If you are looking for a wonderful book to listen to, we suggest:
The Little House Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder – While geared towards children, the Little House series is one that we love revisiting again and again. Step back into the 1800s and follow Laura and her family’s adventures in Wisconsin, Kansas, Minnesota, and the Dakota Territory. You will also be introduced to a variety of memorable characters like the mean and nasty Nellie Oleson and the brave yet dashing Almanzo Wilder.
The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling – Our favorite books list would not be complete without Harry Potter! Even if you have read the series half a dozen times, listening to it on audio brings it to a new level of magic. And with all that time in traffic, you will get through the series quicker than you realize!
Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell – We will forever and always love the 1939 film version starring Vivien Leigh and the dashing Clark Gable, but given the fact that the book is really big, we sometimes feel a little intimidated to read it. Listening to Gone With the Wind on audio while we are driving is a really easy way to experience this American classic.
Anything by Patrick F. McManus – If you like the humor of Mark Twain, you will love Patrick F. McManus! His books are collections of short stories that usually take place in the great outdoors of Idaho and Washington, and they feature a cast of colorful characters like his adventurous childhood friend Crazy Eddie Muldoon and mentor Rancid Crabtree. Some of our favorite books include The Grasshopper Trap, Real Ponies Don’t Go Oink!, and The Bear in the Attic.
Flags of Our Fathers by James Bradley – Non-fiction is always a great choice when listening to audiobooks on the road. Originally published in 2000, Flags of Our Fathers tells the story of the six boys who appeared in the famous photograph of them raising the American flag on Mount Suribachi during the WWII Battle of Iwo Jima. James Bradley, who is the son of one of the flag raisers, is a true wordsmith and the audiobook is phenomenal!
